I’m not interested in hearing nor talking about Kanye West and his latest crazy antics. I am not a fan of engaging in meaningless conversations when there are so many other things that we should be talking about and helping to find solutions for – particularly as they pertain to the betterment of this country and the communities it continues to marginalize.

In case you were wondering, here’s what was happening while you’ve been talking about Kanye:

Teachers are planning to strike in L.A. Why is this important? Because students will be without teachers! Thus, no learning will be taking place. Students who depend on school meal programs for at least two meals a day will be hungry. Why should you care if you don’t live in LA or it’s not affecting your child? Because teacher strikes can go viral, have a domino effect. It could possibly be coming to a city near you one day soon. And even though I shouldn’t have to say it again, but you should be concerned because NO LEARNING WILL BE TAKING PLACE!

Senator McConnell said he wants the Senate to move forward with a procedural vote on Kavanaugh as early as Friday with a House vote coming as early as Sunday. You should be concerned. Very concerned. I really hope I don’t have to explain why.

If you are unmarried and in a same-sex partnership with a foreign diplomat, you can forget coming to this country. President Trump’s administration this week began denying visas to this group along with officials and employees of the United Nations — making marriage a requirement to be eligible for a visa.

Hundreds of migrant children were made to leave their secure foster homes and bused overnight to a tent city in a West Texas desert. Until now, most undocumented children being held by federal immigration authorities had been housed in private foster homes or shelters, sleeping two or three to a room. They received formal schooling and regular visits with legal representatives assigned to their immigration cases. Now they have no access to formal schooling (children are given workbooks they aren’t required to complete). And access to legal services is limited. Any guess as to how many detained migrant children the federal government is now responsible for? No? It’s 13,000 – the largest population EVER.

Water in Michigan is still unsafe and filled with lead and other toxins. Children are still having to drink it, bathe in it, and there’s no relief in sight. There’s no wonder students schooled the school system there. They should have and continue to do so until they are treated as humans. I know the US Constitution says we’re 3/5’s of a person, but damn it’s 2018. Can we at least get a cup of water that won’t kill us?

Bottom line…there are far more important things to talk about than Kanye West and there are certainly more important things to do than watching him for an hour on TMZ (No, I didn’t watch. I heard it on the news).

Just my two cents…
