ED BLOTTER: From Nevada to New Jersey, teachers accused of sexual assault of students

RENO, NV – Reno Police say they have arrested a Damonte Ranch High School music teacher for an inappropriate relationship with a 16-year-old student. Police say 28-year-old Louis Steptoe had been having a personal relationship with his student since March of this year. Police say an investigation also revealed that their relationship recently became sexual in nature.

LAWRENCE COUNTY, MO. – A former substitute teacher in southwestern Missouri was arrested Sunday and charged in connection with alleged sexual contact with one of her students. Loryn Barclay, 24, faces charges in two counties as a result of the alleged relationship with the 17-year-old boy while she worked as a substitute teacher at Monett High School.

DAVENPORT, IA – A Davenport elementary school teacher admitted to police that he received and distributed child pornography, according to a federal complaint unsealed Monday. Michael Loren Ross, 43, who was dressed in a black T-shirt, khaki shorts and shackled at the ankles, made his first appearance Monday in U.S. District Court, Davenport, on charges of possession of child pornography and receipt of child pornography.

DUBLIN, OH – The Dublin City School Board meets for the first time since Gregory R. Lee, a former high school social studies teacher, was arrested on federal child pornography charges. The district has moved the normally scheduled meeting to a larger venue to accommodate any additional parents who may be attending.

UNION COUNTY, NJ –  Nataly Lopez, a 27-year-old New Jersey middle school teacher, has been charged with sexual assault after being accused of having sexual relations with one of her male students. According to the Union County Sheriff’s Office, Lopez, 27, of Elizabeth, New Jersey has been charged with first-degree aggravated sexual assault, second-degree sexual assault and third-degree endangering the welfare of a child.

LAMAR COUNTY, MS – A teacher in the Lamar County School District has been arrested and charged in an ongoing investigation regarding an alleged sexual relationship with a student. Jenny Christine Hipp, 38, a Speech-Language Pathologist at the Lamar County School District since 2014, was arrested Sunday afternoon by Jones County deputies at an undisclosed location on an arrest warrant from Lamar County, according to Lamar County Sheriff Danny Rigel.
